Andy Cohen and Anderson Cooper will return to host New Year’s Eve Live from Times Square to ‘say goodbye to the worst year ever’… but public will be banned from the annual bash

Andy Cohen is going to join Anderson Cooper for a fourth time co-hosting CNN’s New Year’s Eve coverage.

The Bravo host made the announcement via his Instagram on Monday as he shared a promotional montage of his past stints, braving all weather conditions, to broadcast live from Times Square in New York.

‘They braved bitter cold and freezing rain.’ Begins the voice-over as footage plays of Andy and Anderson bantering and taking shots during previous NYEs.

The TV personality and journalist are known for drinking on air and Andy in particular for plying Anderson and various guests with shots of liquor, including tequila and Jägermeister.

The action usually kicks off at 8pm ET and the duo start drinking pretty much from the go.

Anderson, 53, has hosted CNN’s NYE programming for more than a decade and was previously joined by Kathy Griffin.

The Times Square event will look different this year, however, as it won’t be open to the public due to the ongoing coronavirus pandemic.

There will still be some live performances with the hope that people will enjoy the celebrations from the comfort and safety of home.

The official Times Square website reads: ‘New Year’s Eve 2021 might look a little different than usual, but one thing that will never change is the ticking of time and the arrival of a New Year at midnight on December 31st.

‘Celebrate with us virtually in an enhanced celebration that will bring Times Square and the Ball Drop to you no matter where you are.’
