Before the final rose ceremony, she broke down as she dumped runner-up Joe Woodbury in his hotel room, telling him: ‘I’d be lying to myself and I’d be lying to you if I didn’t come and tell you that my heart’s elsewhere. Joe, I’m so sorry.’

After she left, Joe admitted he was ‘gutted’ and said: ‘I didn’t see that coming… I think she’s always going to have a special spot in my heart.’

In the end, she told Frazer: ‘My heart’s racing. I’ve been in love once before, but I don’t think I’ve ever felt a connection or an energy like I do when I’m with you.

‘When I’m with you, I feel like I’m right where I’m meant to be, and standing here with you right now is where I want to stay. I’m crazy about you, Frazer.’

Despite their happy ending, fans couldn’t help but notice that the couple had failed to declare their love for each other, unlike winning couples in past seasons.

Speaking on the Kyle and Jackie O Show on Friday, Elly admitted that she and Frazer were ‘taking our time’ and not rushing into saying ‘I love you’.
