Peter Stefanovic jokes he’s having ‘the best sleep he’s had in months’ in U.S.

Peter Stefanovic announced last month he was expecting his second child with his wife, Sylvia Jeffreys. 

And on Wednesday, the 38-year-old journalist joked that he was finally getting a good night’s sleep after leaving his wife and baby son, Oscar, behind to front Sky News Australia’s coverage of the U.S. presidential election.

During an interview on Nova’s Fitzy & Wippa, radio host Ryan ‘Fitzy’ Fitzgerald asked: ‘How can you leave a nine month old son, Oscar, at home with a pregnant wife and get over there and drink as much Bud Light as you can in the United States?’

Peter responded: ‘Why are you saying that like it’s a bad thing. It’s the best sleep I’ve had in months!’ 

While he might be getting more sleep in America than at home, the broadcaster has been very busy indeed covering the lead-up to the U.S. election.

He has shared several behind-the-scenes photos to Instagram while reporting from the States, and on Wednesday uploaded an image of himself sitting in front of the White House in Washington, D.C.. 

‘Election Day is under way!’ he captioned the post.  

In the image, Peter looked dashing a grey coat, which he paired with jeans, boots and a smart red tie.

Last month, Peter’s wife, Sylvia, shared her pregnancy news to Instagram, telling fans that they would be welcoming another son next year.

Alongside a photo of Peter holding up little Oscar, the 34-year-old Today Extra host wrote: ‘When you find out you’re getting a best bud for life.

‘Oscar’s little brother due in April next year. We are so lucky,’ she added, tagging her husband.
