Sonia Kruger’s weird demand while hosting the Big Brother live finale

Revealed: Sonia Kruger’s weird demand while hosting the Big Brother Australia grand finale

She’s known as a professional in front of the camera, having hosted thousands of hours of live TV during her broadcast career.

And it seems Sonia Kruger can be quite particular when it comes to Big Brother finales, which she has presented four times now, from 2012 to 2014 on Channel Nine and this year on Seven.

The 54-year-old apparently requests that producers don’t tell her who the winner is before the live announcement.

Playing it safe! Australian television presenter Sonia Kruger’s bizarre request while hosting Big Brother’s live grand finale last week has been REVEALED

During an Instagram Q&A on Tuesday, housemate Kieran Davidson said that he asked Sonia moments before the announcement if she knew who would be winning.

Sonia responded that she didn’t know because and ‘would rather be fed the information through her earpiece and open the envelope live’.

Sonia apparently told the 21-year-old YouTuber that she had a ‘bad habit’ of looking at the winner before calling their name in the past, and wanted to avoid doing so.

Big Brother’s live finale was a success, with the only gaffe being when model Chad Hurst accidentally dropped the F-bomb after being told he’d won.

His runner-ups were former AFL player Daniel Gorringe and gymnast Sophie Budack, with whom Chad was romantically involved in the house.

He took home a reduced cash prize of $234,656, after Kieran had walked away with $15,344 during a challenge earlier in the series.

It comes just days after Sonia told TV Tonight that she had feared the rebooted series wouldn’t be successful.

‘Twenty years ago, we would watch someone sitting around having a chat. We didn’t have as many options as we have now in terms of viewing,’ she said.

‘I was skeptical along with everybody else about the fact that it wasn’t going to be live and it was going to be prerecorded.’
