A mum-of-two known for her cleaning and organisational tips has revealed how she uses lemon around the home to clean various items.

Chantel Mila, from Melbourne, revealed lemon should be your ‘go-to cleaner’ for a number of items, including your kitchen kettle, chopping boards and even old rusty knives.

‘These are the three ways I use lemon around the home,’ Chantel wrote alongside a TikTok video on the subject.

1. Use lemon to de-scale your kettle

‘De-scale your kettle by boiling half a lemon in water and letting it stand for half an hour,’ Chantel said. 

The reason why this works is because the citric acid ‘breaks down’ any limescale within your kettle.

‘By the time you remove it, your kettle will be shining,’ she said.

‘Refresh and deodorise old chopping boards with sea salt and lemon,’ Chantel said.

Simply sprinkle some sea salt over the board and use the lemon wedge to gently rub it in.
