Emergency crews rushed to the scene at Oxenford on the Gold Coast just after 10am on Monday.

Moments earlier, the driver of a 1997 Boxster Porsche convertible, which sold for $100,000 at the time, was forced to pull over and flee the overheating car.

Two firefighter crews worked for more than 20 minutes to put out the blaze, which unfolded near popular theme parks Movie World and Wet’n’Wild.

Remarkably, no one was injured in the blaze.

The fire was so intense the road had to be closed, but was reopened later that day.

Bus services were also shut down.

During the blaze, the rear engine of the vehicle appeared to flare up repeatedly, including one frightening instance which saw a firefighter within inches of the spark up.

Last month, a couple who recently moved to the Gold Coast from Sydney had their $100,000 2015 model Porsche Macan stolen from their home garage.

Devastated owner James Billington, 77 said the brazen thieves entered through a roller door before snatching the keys as well as his wife’s handbag.

The vehicle still remains unaccounted for.
