Celebrity Apprentice star Josh Gibson says he ‘can’t wait to be a dad’

Former AFL star Josh Gibson announced in March that he and his partner Ashley Bright were expecting their first child together.

And the 37-year-old shared his joy at becoming a father in an interview with TV Week on Monday, telling the magazine: ‘I can’t wait to be a dad.’

Josh, who is currently starring in Nine’s Celebrity Apprentice, said he and Ashley will welcome a little boy in September.

‘There have been a lot of great things in my life, and some wonderful achievements, but none will come close to being a father and having a little man,’ he said.

Josh, who helped Hawthorn win the 2013, 2014 and 2015 premierships, also said he plans to encourage his son to play football.

‘There’ll be some footy in his life, but at the end of the day, he can play whatever he wants,’ he said. 

Back in March, Josh and Ashley shared their exciting news by posting a photo on Instagram of themselves with their baby’s sonogram. 

‘Little Gibbo coming September 2021. Hawks fans will be very happy to know that scans show a large left [fist emoji]!’ he wrote in the caption.

A second photo showed a close-up of the sonogram, surrounded by blue and white baby-themed cupcakes. 

Josh and Ashley only went public with their relationship in December last year.

Before dating Ashley, Josh was in a relationship with mother-of-two Olga Kononchuk.

According to a report by the Herald Sun in January last year, they split in December 2019 after almost two years of dating.
