Former Married At First Sight star Nasser Sultan SLAMS Jason Engler after homophobic comments

Nasser Sultan has publicly criticised Married At First Sight’s Jason Engler after he made homophobic comments targetting fellow groom Liam Cooper.

In an impassioned video posted to Instagram on Tuesday, the 53-year-old former MAFS star said he’d seen the video of Jason ‘ranting and raving’.

‘That was really disturbing and really uncalled for. I want to say this: What’s his preference got to do with the person himself?’ Nasser began.

‘I like Liam, and I think he’s a really lovely guy. Whether he’s bi, gay, straight, queer… I don’t care.

‘This moron has gone and publicly put down this guy, calling him fat, calling him homosexual, calling him gay…

‘And you know what disturbed me the most, that girl Georgia [Fairweather], that onscreen “wife”, was in the background, laughing and urging him on.’

He added: ‘I want this beef jerky to come out and record a video apologising to this young man for calling him names. Sexuality’s got nothing to do with it.’

Footage surfaced on Tuesday of Jason, 35, using a homophobic slur against his bisexual co-star and calling him ‘ugly’ and ‘chubby’ – as Liam’s own ‘wife’ Georgia laughs in the background.

In the two-minute video obtained by Daily Mail Australia, Jason calls Liam, 29, a ‘full-blown homosexual’ – even though he has made it clear he is attracted to both women and men – and ridicules him for ‘not going to the gym’.

Famous last words: The video begins with Jason - who is shirtless, wearing two pairs of sunglasses and holding a glass of white wine - saying: 'Cheers to everyone. Can I just say one thing right now?' He then launches into a homophobic rant against Liam

The clip also features Georgia, 25 – Liam’s partner on the Channel Nine show – and fellow MAFS star Johnny Balbuziente, who giggle along with a visibly drunk Jason.

The video was filmed and uploaded to Georgia’s Instagram account in November as she, Jason and Johnny caught up Brisbane.

Jason’s hurtful comments were made three days before Liam and Georgia filmed their final vows – which are yet to air on TV – and all but confirm the couple’s split.

‘He is not one hundred and ten per cent anymore… I wouldn’t give a s**t anymore, because we’re free and we’re going to run amok in Brisbane.’

Georgia can be heard saying off camera: ‘Jason, tell them what you’re talking about.’

Insults: 'Can I say Georgia's husband, a**, w**ker, I can't remember what his name is - Liam - is 110 per cent and is a wanker and Georgia is better than him,' Jason rambles

‘He’s ugly, fat, and he is chubby,’ Jason continues.

‘I’m by the pool and just want to say Georgia’s husband is full-blown homosexual. He is ugly and chubby and doesn’t go to the gym.’

Johnny, who is a musical theatre actor, also says, ‘You’re bi-what?… Bisexual?’ referring to Liam being openly bisexual.

Jason adds: ‘He hasn’t gone to the gym in 64 years. Georgia is way hotter than him and he is batting way above his average.

‘She can’t wait to say “shut your mouth and get out of here you chubby little w**ker” in a couple of days [at the final vows] and that’s all I have to say about that.’

Regrettable comments: 'He hasn't gone to the gym in 64 years. Georgia is way hotter than him and he is batting way above his average,' Jason continues

Johnny then urges Jason not to post the video, before Georgia is heard laughing as the footage abruptly ends.

A source close to Liam told Daily Mail Australia he felt ‘absolutely betrayed and heartbroken’ after watching the footage.

Liam is understood to have kept quiet about the video until he was reunited with his castmates at the Married At First Sight reunion in February.

‘He called Jason, Georgia and Johnny out at the reunion because it was disgusting, but they didn’t own up to their actions,’ the source said.

‘They didn’t say it wasn’t okay or believe they did anything wrong… Georgia and Johnny have LGBTQI family and friends but not one of them stopped Jason.

‘How would Johnny’s family feel if he heard that Johnny didn’t stop this? Georgia’s best mate who attended their wedding as a bridesmaid is also a gay man.’

The source also revealed the video took a significant toll on Liam, who has ‘struggled mentally’ and ‘lost a lot of weight’ because of it.

Jason has since apologised for what he said in the video – after he was approached for comment.

‘I would like to sincerely apologise for my comments in regards to a fellow MAFS participant’s sexuality,’ he told Daily Mail Australia.

‘After a few too many drinks I made some inappropriate remarks that I am ashamed of and greatly regret. I will learn from this and try to become a better person from this experience.’

Liam, Georgia and Johnny have also been contacted for comment.
