Andy Lee won’t return to Seven’s The Front Bar ‘in the short term’ due to his commitment to Channel 10 game show The Cube

He was a popular addition to Channel Seven’s The Front Bar last year.

But Andy Lee won’t be returning to the AFL comedy talk show ‘in the short term’ according to TV Blackbox on Wednesday.

The 39-year-old comedian’s ‘conflicting work commitments’ on his new Network 10 game show The Cube are preventing his return to the panel.

Lee serves as both host and executive producer on The Cube.

On Tuesday, Seven revealed that The Front Bar hosts Mick Molloy, Sam Pang and Andy Maher would return to The Front Bar on Wednesday night.

Lee’s name was conspicuously absent from the press release, but there is ‘an expectation’ he will return at some point.

Earlier this year, the radio host told MediaWeek he would return to the show, saying ‘I love talking footy and I love having a beer.’

‘Working with Mick [Molloy] and becoming pals with him has been awesome.’

Meanwhile Andy’s new game show has been an instant hit for Ten, with the premiere garnering an impressive 567,000 viewers.

It comes after the Hamish and Andy’s Caravan of Courage star admitted to rejecting an offer to host Channel Seven’s reboot of Dancing With The Stars to do The Cube instead.

In an interview with the TV Reload podcast, Andy said, ‘Hamish and I, when Darryl Summers finished up on Dancing With The Stars, got asked to host it… I don’t know when that was.’

‘We did not have to think long to say no because neither of us dance,’ he said of himself and fellow host Hamish Blake.

Based on the UK series of the same name, The Cube sees contestants put in a small perspex cube where they must take on a series of tasks in the hopes of winning $250,000.
