An Australian foodie with a flair for creating unique homemade meals has shared how to make Toblerone-filled French toast.

Mon Mack, from Brisbane, posted a video on Instagram on January 5 and outlined how to prepare the decadent dish.

‘Toblerones are my second favourite chocolate after Ferrero Rochers, so I just had to make this!’ she captioned the social media post. 

To make the French toast, you’ll need Toblerone chocolate, bread, one egg, sugar, milk and toppings of choice – such as fresh berries, maple syrup or lemon and sugar.

She then sliced a thick piece of bread and cut a slit in the middle horizontally before carefully piping the melted Toblerone inside using a Ziploc bag with a slit on one corner.

‘Make a mixture of egg, sugar, milk and salt, pop your bread in the mixture,’ she said.

The bread was then flipped, ensuring both sides were doused in the egg, then cooked in a greased pan on a medium heat.

‘Flip when it’s golden, pop a lid on it to melt the chocolate,’ she said.

The French toast was then served with chopped fruit, a drizzle of maple syrup and a scoop of ice cream.

‘Honestly you have to give this a go,’ she said.

The end result looked mouth-watering and would be a suitable treat for those who enjoy sweet breakfast meals.

‘This looks so good!!! Love this idea,’ one foodie wrote on Instagram in response to the video.

‘Now that’s a good morning,’ another said.

A third added: ‘Why do you gotta do this to me? Looks soo good.’

How to make Toblerone-filled French toast:

INGREDIENTS:

  • 4 Toblerone chocolate bars
  • Bread
  • 1 egg
  • 2 tbsp sugar
  • 1/4 cup milk
  • Topping of choice – berries, maple syrup, lemon and sugar, etc.  

METHOD:

Melt the Toblerone and stir to ensure there are no lumps 

Slice a thick piece of bread and cut a slit in the middle horizontally 

Using a Ziploc bag with a hole in the corner, carefully fill the bread with the melted chocolate 

Mix the egg, milk, sugar and salt to season together then dip the bread in the container 

Flip the bread to ensure both sides are doused in the egg mixture 

Cook on a medium heat until both sides are golden brown 

Serve with your toppings of choice
