Easter is a great time for those with a sweet tooth, but if you don’t love chocolate it can be tricky to find the perfect springtime treat.
But those who prefer a savoury flavour can now indulgent in Easter eggs too, as a solid cheese version has returned.

For blue cheese lovers there’s also a Blacksticks Blue egg as well as the cheddar one.
The egg, which is available online this year amid lockdown, is delivered with sourdough crispbreads and fig relish for £6.50 plus postage.
For those who want to keep things a little more traditional, there’s also a range of letterbox cheeseboards.
The classic, Perfect British Cheeseboard for two includes Blacksticks Blue, Button Mill and Sunday Best, with chutney and crackers for £6.50 and the Showstopper Trio is available for £11.50 plus postage.
The cheese egg was first launched in 2017 as the brainchild of food blogger Annem Hobson of food blog So Wrong It’s Nom.
She came up with the idea after the runaway success of her home-made cheese advent calendar in 2016, believed to be the UK’s first.
The writer’s creative cheese calendar earned shout-outs from stars such as Zooey Deschanel, Taio Cruz and Emma Bunton on social media, and thousands read a blog post where she showed how people could make their own version.
Since many alternatives have popped up, including Sainsbury’s launching their own version in 2019, but it’s not known if they’ll be back this year.
The festive offering, officially called the Cheesalicious Easter Egg, is be made from cheddar cheese, using milk from Lancashire farms, and weighs 120g.
However, before customers start worrying about how they’re going to tuck into a 120g egg-shaped chunk of cheese, Sainsbury’s explains that the egg is made from creamy cheddar and is actually spreadable.
