‘We are just very, very good friends!’ Strictly’s Giovanni Pernice, 30, admits ‘there’s absolutely no way’ he’d date former co-star Ranvir Singh, 43

He was forced to deny romance rumours after raising the roof with their steamy routines on last year’s Strictly Come Dancing.

And Giovanni Pernice, 30, has admitted ‘there’s absolutely no way’ he’d date his former co-star Ranvir Singh, 43, two months after they wrapped up their stint on the BBC programme.

In a new interview, the Italian dancer confirmed he’s currently single as he insisted the pair are just ‘very, very good friends’.

Shutting down speculation that they’re dating once and for all, the choreographer said: ‘No, no, no no no. I’m single, absolutely there’s no way [he would date Ranvir]. We are very very good friends.

‘Every time you get close in a rhumba or Argentine tango with your partner they try to make out a story. So if they think that there is a romance, it means we are doing it absolutely right.’

The hunk previously dated TOWIE star Jess Wright and Pussycat Dolls’ Ashley Roberts, while mother-of-one Ranvir divorced her husband of eight years Ranjeet Singh Dehal in 2020.

The media personality also discussed whether he believes pro dancer Anton Du Beke will serve as a judge on this year’s series as he added to Entertainment Daily: ‘He did a fantastic job as a judge last year and he’s still doing a great job as a dancer.’

The couple batted away speculation of an off dancefloor relationship throughout their appearance, with Ranvir previously insisting her sizzling chemistry with Giovanni stayed on the floor, but confessed the two got very close in training.

Reflecting on the intense rehearsals, the host said: ‘I can’t actually tell you the words he uses… he says this part needs to be here, this parts needs to be there. I said you know me better than my own GP now!

‘It’s so funny, it is a very unusual experience to be that close to someone. The one thing I’m struggling to find is the energy.

‘It doesn’t matter how much sleep Gio has, whether he’s eaten or not, his body is just ready… I’m just struggling to keep up.’

Asked once again if the two are dating, Ranvir declared: ‘We’re definitely not going out you can’t go out anywhere!’

Days earlier, the Loose Women panellist was even quizzed on if she has had any ‘hanky panky’ with her dance partner by co-star Piers Morgan on Good Morning Britain.

Cheeky Piers, 55, recounted how he got Jane Torvill and Christopher Dean to ‘crack’ and reveal that they had once snogged on the back of a bus, during a Life Stories interview in 2013.

The ITV star then asked the political editor, who was sat in the back of a taxi during the virtual interview: ‘So I’m asking you directly, has there been any hanky panky?’

However, the Preston native insisted: ‘No of course not, there hasn’t! He’s [Giovanni] very much about the performance and all about the routines…’, after insisting that they find the idea that they will be hit by the Strictly curse ‘very funny’.
