EXCLUSIVE: ‘I’m devastated and furious’: Ajay Rochester is unable to travel to Brisbane to be with her new family for Christmas amid the latest COVID-19 border closures – and now she’s ‘scrambling not to be homeless’

After a decade of living in Los Angeles, former Biggest Loser host Ajay Rochester moved back to Australia earlier this month.

But on Monday, the 51-year-old television presenter revealed her devastation, unable to travel to Brisbane to be with family for Christmas.

‘I am absolutely devastated and furious,’ she told Daily Mail Australia.

‘I’m devastated and furious’: Ajay Rochester is unable to travel to Brisbane to be with her new family for Christmas amid the latest COVID-19 border closures – and she’s ‘scrambling not to be homeless’

‘I was supposed to be flying to Brisbane with my son Kai to have Christmas with the family I just met last year, my brother and sister, and now i’m stuck in Sydney,’ she said.

Ajay, who was adopted in 1969 at six-weeks-old, explained this would have been her first Christmas with her biological siblings after uncovering her family’s history via a DNA test online.

Now she is ‘currently scrambling not to be homeless for Christmas’, with her only choice of accommodation being in Sydney’s Northern Beaches, which has been devastated by a resurgence in COVID-19.

Like many, the former TV host hasn’t had it easy in these uncertain times.

It took her three months to get a flight to Australia from the US due to tough Covid-19 restrictions.

‘I got home in the end so I’m one of the lucky ones as there are so many who haven’t been as fortunate,’ she said of her return.
