Megan Thee Stallion says the conservative backlash to WAP was ‘a little weird’

Megan Thee Stallion jokes that Republicans freaked out over WAP because they ‘needed to take their frustration out somewhere’

Megan Thee Stallion says she found the conservative backlash for her racy Cardi B collaboration WAP a ‘little weird.’

The Texas-born rapper, 25, admitted she was confused about the outrage over the NSFW chart-topper while appearing on The Late Show With Stephen Colbert on Wednesday night.

‘I know the Republicans have been having a bad year and they probably needed to take their frustration out somewhere,’ Megan joked.

Over-the-top?  Megan Thee Stallion talked about how ‘weird’ she thought the backlash to her Cardi B collaboration WAP was while appearing on The Late Show With Stephen Colbert

The Good News rapper said she was fine with anyone listening, adding: ‘But I wanna tell them thank you for the streams! Because without you, I don’t know if we would’ve been here!

Still, she thinks the reaction was a little over-the-top, telling Colbert: ‘But no, them people crazy — why you worried about my WAP?’

In August Cardi B addressed the controversy while on the Australian radio show The Kyle And Jackie O Show.

‘The people that the song bothers are usually conservatives or really religious people, but my thing is I grew up listening to this type of music,’ the native New Yorker explained.

‘Other people might think it’s strange and vulgar, but to me it’s almost like really normal, you know what I’m saying?’

Asked whether or not she’d let two-year-old  daughter Kulture listen to WAP, Cardi said the music is obviously for ‘adults.’

‘No, of course I don’t want my child to listen to this song and everything — but it’s for adults,’ she reasoned.
