‘I’ve got SUCH a crush on him’: Katherine Jenkins, 40, admits she fancies Captain Sir Tom Moore, 100, as she says he was ‘very nice in person’

Katherine Jenkins has admitted she fancies World War 2 veteran, Captain Sir Tom Moore.

The mezzo-soprano singer, 40, made the admission while talking to Piers Morgan, 55, on Good Morning Britain on Wednesday. 

She said of the 100-year-old: ‘Captain Sir Tom is so amazing. I have such a crush on him.

‘When you meet people and they’re nicer in person, it just shows your a complete superstar.’

Katherine is Captain Tom’s favourite singer and back in October, she surprised him with a socially distanced visit to his home to present him with a Special Recognition Pride of Britain Award.

During her interview, Katherine also spoke about her friendship with the Forces’ Sweetheart, Dame Vera Lynn, who died in June aged 103.

Katherine also said: 'Dame Vera has been a mentor to me in the past 15 years, so to get to do the NHS charity single, We'll Meet Again, with her was a highlight for me'

‘We lost her this year which was incredibly sad, she’ll be missed.’ 

The singer also spoke about her pre-performance routine and said: ‘I tend to not speak before a concert. 

‘I’ll go to bed and then not speak until I need to go to rehearsals next day. My husband love it and my kids think it’s really funny.’

They also spoke about when she sent Piers some manuka tea when he lost he voice, and she joked: ‘I was scared the public would hate me for doing that!’

Piers asked Katherine about her opinion on the Covid vaccine news. 

She said: ‘I think it’s emotional at realising what we’ve all lived through and going back to some sense of normality… to see that is amazing news. Of course I’ll have it.

Piers then said: ‘What lighting are you using? You look like a goddess! I think it’s because you’re married to a Hollywood producer, [Andrew Levitas].’

Susanna Reid chimed in: ‘It’s because she looks like a goddess with natural beauty and you look terrible!’
