Hilarious snap shows ‘spoilt’ greyhound found hogging his owner’s electric blanket for a nap

A couple caught their ‘snoring’ greyhound tucked up in their bed for a sneaky daytime nap after he fell in love with their electric blanket – and now it’s three in the bed every night.

Kathryn Cornish, 40, from Backwell, Somerset, had been looking for her rescue dog Charlie around the house last week after he went suspiciously quiet.

But a hilarious photo shows how she discovered her bedroom door ajar and her ‘spoiled’ eight-year-old pooch had tucked himself under the duvet like a teenager refusing to get out of bed all day.

Now poor Kathryn and partner Craig Gibson have to share their bed at night with the ‘cheeky’ mutt who can’t get enough of their heated blanket, leaving her with a bad back.

The cosmetic tattooist is used to her ‘naughty’ pet wreaking havoc around the house after he stole a whole roast chicken from her worktop – but never expected to see him sprawled out in her double bed.

Kathryn said: ‘I wasn’t shocked – [Charlie’s] cheeky anyway and this is the kind of thing he’d do.

‘I took the picture as I walked past the bedroom and didn’t know where he was. I was looking for Charlie and I saw him star-fished in my bed.

‘It’s so naughty. It’s like he’s a little human in a fur coat. He’s one of the luckiest dogs to have an electric blanket he can enjoy.’

Before his latest stunt, Charlie had already developed a reputation for his ‘ridiculous’ antics after stealing cups of tea and ripping apart toilet rolls.

But now Kathryn and her Craig, 36, face sleepless nights as their furry friend snores and takes up all the room in their bed, leaving Kathryn with a bad back.

Kathryn said: ‘He doesn’t normally go in the bedroom but he’s started to sneak in there if we put the electric blanket on an hour before bed. It’s not the most hygienic.

‘My mum bought it for me a few weeks ago and this happened as soon as he realised there was a nice little warm patch.

‘Normally he likes to lie where the sun might be coming in but it’s gone cold now.

‘I think he sees the bed as much as his. He tries to get in the middle of me and my partner.

‘He’s almost as tall as we are when he’s laid down so I can wake up with a bad back. He genuinely snores as well.

‘You cannot leave anything around Charlie – Christmas presents, anything on the side board. He will literally take anything.

‘If you leave half a cup of tea on the side, he’ll take that. He has no boundaries when it comes to food.

‘When we first got him and because we didn’t realise, he stole a cooked chicken and dragged it into the bedroom. It’s ridiculous.

‘He also steals toilet rolls. We really love him. He’s like our child. We don’t have children so he is very spoilt.’
