The Voice judges Guy Sebastian and Delta Goodrem tipped to be on Idol reboot

‘It’s a two-for-one package’: The Voice judges Guy Sebastian and Delta Goodrem are being ‘positioned’ for Seven’s Australian Idol reboot in 2022

Guy Sebastian and Delta Goodrem have starred alongside each other as beloved TV judges on The Voice for years.

And on Monday, an industry insider claimed the singers could be set to appear on Seven’s reboot of Australian Idol.

According to Woman’s Day magazine, a source said the pair are being eyed-off for a spot on the reality show’s judging panel.

‘Guy and Delta are something of a two-for-one package,’ the insider said.

‘Wherever Delta lands, Guy seems to follow. They look out for each other and they’re both positioned to be taking over the revamped Idol in 2022.’

The insider went on to say the Australian Idol plan had to be tempered back due to coronavirus restrictions.

‘The original plan would have been to have them on Idol early next year, but the show is made for live audiences, live voting, and the electrifying finale.’

In August, it was announced the new season of The Voice would be aired on Channel Seven next year after a nine-year run on rival network Nine.

Nine ‘failed to renew the contract’ for the 2021 season, with Seven jumping on the deal ‘very quickly’, it was confirmed at the time.

It was rumoured back in September that Guy could be appearing on the series, with Channel Ten eager to ramp-up the nostalgic factor of the series.

However, in October it was the Seven Network who announced that it will be rebooting Australian Idol in 2022.

Guy won the inaugural season back in 2003, which launched him to international stardom and gave him millions of fans.

As the longest-serving coach on The Voice, Delta has previously said that she has a strong bond with singing contest.

‘I have been thankful to have been a part of the show since its inception which means I’m also a part of its evolution,’ she told WHO magazine in May.

‘The amount of magical moments that I have been a part of and that have happened over the years will always stay with me.’

It’s unclear who will front The Voice’s judging panel when it debuts on Channel Seven in 2021.
