Sunrise’s David Koch supports Joe Biden day after show ‘turned blue’

Sunrise host David Koch has delivered a gushing speech about Joe Biden just a day after the show mysteriously turned blue for its election coverage.

The breakfast show host praised the presidential candidate for his ‘statesmen-like address’ moments after Biden took the stage following his win in two key states, edging him even closer to the White House.

Co-host Monique Wright, who has been filing in for Sam Armytage this week, said Biden looked ‘very presidential’.

‘It’s exactly what the country needs at the moment,’ she said.

‘Yeah, he’s starting to bring the country together,’ Kochie added.

‘It’s a stark contrast to the Trump performance in his last press conference too – really noticeable.’

After winning Wisconsin and Michigan, Biden took to the stage to share his plan for harmony after ‘a hard time’ for the US.

‘We have had hard campaigns before, we have faced hard times before, so once this election is finalised, and behind us, it will be time for us to do what we have always done as Americans – to put the harsh rhetoric of the campaign behind us, to lower the temperature, to see each other again, to listen to one another, to hear each other again, and respect and care for one another. To unite. To heal.’

‘What brings us together as Americans is so much stronger than anything that can tear us apart.’

Kochie highlighted the difference between both candidates speeches, calling Trump’s a ‘performance’ while labelling Biden’s as ‘statesmen-like’.

Trump has cried fraud and desperately scrambled to undermine the results after slipping back in the polls.

He claims that votes for him ‘mysteriously vanished’ and that the counting is not being done properly, flatly rejecting the election result as he has been threatening to do for months.

The President is demanding a recount in Wisconsin and he has filed lawsuits in Michigan and Pennsylvania to halt counting, claiming his people have not been allowed to oversee the process and ensure it is being carried out fairly.

The Sunrise host’s comments come just a day after the show mysteriously changed its colours to blue – the colours of the Democratic Party.

Sunrise’s usual white and orange font was changed to a blue and white.

While reporting from the White House, newsreader Natalie Barr even wore a light blue coat.

And back in the studio in Sydney, Kochie chose to wear a blue tie.

In 2017, Sam attended Australian NSW One Nation leader Mark Latham’s new TV show launch, where 400 attended for the conservative Free Speech Forum.

And in June 2018, Sam weighed in on the media mocking of Trump, saying the incessant ridicule of America’s Commander-In-Chief had become ‘boring’.

The U.S. election has attracted unprecedented coverage in Australia because of the controversial presidency of Donald Trump and his unlikely Democrat challenger, Joe Biden, all held within the turmoil of the Covid pandemic.

All Australian channels are running wall-to-wall coverage of the U.S. election on Wednesday.

ABC, SBS and commercial channels Seven, Nine and Ten are all covering the results.

The coverage began at 5am on Wednesday and has continued through to Thursday as the votes continue to be counted.
