Danny Cipriani was given a birthday to remember on Tuesday as he celebrated turning 33 with fiancée Victoria Rose. 

The rugby player received a tiered cake decorated with an assortment of chocolate bars and treats while seeing in his special day on October 2nd.

And he promptly thanked the mental health campaigner, 29, for the birthday surprise by sharing a throwback of the couple during a previous holiday with Instagram followers.

Captioning the shot, in which he appears shirtless alongside his bikini-clad fiancée, he wrote: ‘What a special birthday – thank you to my beautiful better half for organising it all… wonderful colours, amazing scenery and a whole lot of peace. Feeling very grateful.’

The Gloucester fly-half also posted images of his cake, a two-tiered creation garnished with white, dark and milk chocolate and topped with a small framed photo of the happy couple. 

Thoughtful Victoria gave the cake an added flourish by surrounding it with personalized cupcakes decorated with love hearts and tropical sunsets.

Two days earlier Danny – who has previously admitted to struggling with depression for much of his life – thanked Victoria for her unwavering support while revealing he wished he’d met her sooner. 

Sharing a snap of the pair, he wrote: ‘I didn’t know life could be this good. The feeling of being in love. I truly think you can only be in love once. You will come across different people who you love and love for different reasons. 

‘When you find the one who you want to spend the rest of your days with. It’s different. They are willing to work and look at your shadows have honest conversations, give you a different perspective which could ultimately take you a step away from something that was causing you bother.

‘It isn’t easy, there is difficult conversations. Butting heads, not wanting to listen to the other at times. 

‘Those small moments cause for big moments of reflection which always come back to the same answer. Which is love. Love is the answer and that person is always wanting what’s best for you no matter what. 

He added: ‘Going back to un learn old conditions. Getting back to basics and the beauty of the world in front of us with that special person. I don’t regret anything, just wish I’d met you sooner @victoriarosecipriani.’
