Moment firefighters rescue fox from the Thames after it got stuck on hull of upturned boat

- It looks as though he jumped or fell on to the boat from the docks above
A tiny fox had to be rescued by firefighters after it got stuck on the hull of an upturned boat in the River Thames.
A member of the Shad Thames Residents Association (STRA) noticed a fox ‘decided to take a boat ride in St Saviour’s Dock’ on Saturday.
The London Fire Brigade and the RSPCA joined forces to save the lost creature and bring it back to safety.
Pictures show that the fox was stuck on an upturned boat. It looks as if he jumped or fell down onto the boat from the docks above, although it’s not clear what may have encouraged him to look to get down onto the boat.
The STRA said on Twitter: ‘A huge thank you to the London Fire Brigade and RSPCA for saving a little fox who decided to take a boat ride in St Saviour’s Dock.
‘You were all brilliant. A truly lovely display of care and kindness.’

Photos show the LFB managed to coax the fox into a cage and carrying him to shore.
If you live in London, it’s unlikely that you haven’t seen a fox at some point.
There’s around 18 foxes per square kilometre in London, according to the British Trust for Ornithology.
