Max Ehrich has been public about his heartbreak since his engagement to pop star Demi Lovato, 28, came to an abrupt end in late September.
But the 29-year-old actor looked less than distraught as he enjoyed an evening out with American Idol alum Sonika Vaid, 25, in Los Angeles on Monday.
In a photo shared to his Instagram and obtained by E! News on Tuesday, Max kept close to Sonika as they strolled down a sidewalk.

Vaid, who appeared on season 15 of American Idol, explained in a statement to the outlet that she first ‘met Max recently at dinner with mutual friends.’
‘It was a fun night and we all got to hang out and head to the studio together.
‘We’ve just been hanging out since and having fun,’ concluded Sonika, who placed fifth in the popular singing competition.
Max’s shocking outing with Sonika comes just days after he was spotted sulking on the beach where he proposed to Demi on July 23, as per photos published by TMZ.

At the time of their engagement, Demi proudly showed off her ring on social media, along with a slew of photos of her and Max locking lips.
But a lot of changed since then, including recent reports that Lovato has allegedly sought the advice of lawyers as she continues dealing with her ex who has reportedly not left her alone since ending their engagement of two months.
‘She is having all sorts of issues with Max not leaving her alone,’ an insider dished to E! News.

Ehrich has allegedly been attempting to contact Demi’s friends and family, whom have all blocked the actor.
‘He has been trying to get in contact with her family and friends and they have all blocked him. She’s in contact with lawyers now on what to do.’
Although Demi has yet to address the broken engagement publicly, Max has not shied away from sharing his thoughts on the split, even claiming that Demi used their split as a publicity stunt earlier this month.

The Young And The Restless star even claimed that he learned about their split after reading it in the media, writing: ‘It’s just the craziest thing.’
He added: ‘This is the most bizarre experience that I hope no one ever has to experience, ever. Because no person deserves to feel this way.’
A source close to Lovato denied Max’s claim and insisted to People magazine that ‘Demi made Max aware that the relationship was over and it was going to come out in the press.’

Adding that despite Max’s attempts to ‘reach out,’ and ‘denial’ that their relationship is over, the Sorry Not Sorry hitmaker ‘wants nothing to do with him.’
