He made a very bold entrance dressed as Cupid on the premiere of The Bachelorette.

But Jake Ricciardo was sent home after failing to receive a rose from Elly and Becky Miles at the second rose ceremony on Thursday.

The 26-year-old looked glum as he said farewell to his pals and wished the sisters luck on their journey.

Fans of Channel Ten’s dating show were disappointed to see the quirky gent leave 

‘Cupid spends all his time making others fall in love, but he cannot find anyone to fall in love with him,’ tweeted one viewer.

A second shared: ‘So Jake was the closest thing they really had to a villain and he’s gone. I’m SO intrigued by this lack of overt villainy at this stage.’

Jake made a memorable entrance on the red carpet when he introduced himself to Elly and Becky on Wednesday’s premiere.

He confidently strutted his stuff down the red carpet, shirtless and dressed in red and white tights, which he paired with white wings and a toy archery set.

When asked by the producers why he was dressed as the mythological creature, he explained: ‘Because I’m a lover, you know? I’m all about the love. I’m Cupid.’

During his introduction to Elly and Becky, he said: ‘I’ve been sent here on a mission. A mission of love.’

The Bachelorette continues Wednesday at 7.30pm on Channel Ten
