Along with leading the Los Angeles Lakers into the playoffs in his effort to win his fifth NBA championship, LeBron James also heads his SpringHill Entertainment production company.
And on Monday the basketball great and his SpringHill team unveiled the new, and colorful, uniform he will be wearing as the star of their upcoming film, Space Jam: A New Legacy.
The live-action/animated sports comedy is the sequel to the 1996 film, Space Jam, that starred James’ childhood idol, basketball all-time great, Michael Jordan.

Initially, the promo video was released to families of his — I Promise School — in Akron, Ohio, and then posted on his personal and professional social media platforms, including Twitter and Instagram.
‘We want to give you all a sneak peak at our family member, our leader, Mr. LeBron James, in his very new uniform that he is wearing, representing the Tune Squad that will be seen in the movie. I hope you enjoy it,’ James’ business manager and SpringHill co-founder Maverick Carter said in the lead-in to the short clip posted on Instagram.

It should be noted that James is wearing a No. 6 uniform for the Tune Squad, instead of No. 23, which he’s currently has with the Los Angeles Lakers, as well as when he played with his hometown Cleveland Cavaliers.
Some fans might remember, Michael Jordan wore No. 23 for his starring role in the original Space Jam film.

Space Jam: A New Legacy is currently in the process of post-production, on a $183 million budget, after wrapping initial filming earlier this year.
It also stars Don Cheadle, Sonequa Martin-Green, Erc Bauza and Kath Soucie, who’s reprising her role as Lola Bunny.
James also acts as a producer alongside Ryan Coogler.
NBA players Anthony Davis, Klay Thompson, Damian Lillard, Chris Paul and Kyle Kuzma make cameo appearances in the film along with WNBA players Diana Taurasi, Nneka Ogwumike and Chiney Ogwumike.
Space Jam: A New Legacy is slated to premiere July 16, 2021.
