Melanie Sykes, 50, is leggy as she candidly discusses men, motherhood and not ruling out surgery

She celebrated turning 50 on Friday. 

And Melanie Sykes has marked the milestone occasion by speaking candidly about getting older and how ‘cannot wait to welcome in the next stage of my life’.

Writing in her own magazine Frank, the presenter also discussed life in lockdown with her two sons and how she has ‘no interest in settling’ for just any man.

Reflecting on the last decade, Melanie said it has been a time of growth for her both personally and professionally and it has not always been easy.  

Although turning 50 single, Melanie said she’s in no rush to be in a relationship and is content with waiting for the right person.

She said: ‘I would love to find a good man to share my life with romantically. Sadly in all realms of life, most, not all, but most men are pretty basic and disappointing.

‘I don’t need a father for my kids, I don’t need to be financially supported and I’m not sure if I want too much domesticity with someone…I have no interest in just settling.’

Melanie was said to have been left ‘gutted’ when her relationship with Steve Coogan, 54, came to an end last year.

It’s said she began to grow increasingly concerned the Alan Partridge star didn’t want to settle down with her amid their largely low-key romance.

Speaking in Frank, the media personality also revealed she’s been thinking a lot about her 50s and revealed how she keeps her age-defying looks.

She explained how a mix of yoga, weights and ballet exercises are what she uses currently as well as trying to maintain a balanced diet and doing meditation. 

Melanie said: ‘I would not rule out surgery in the future, if thats what I want, I’ll do it. It’s my right to choose either way. I could not give a stuff about anybody else’s opinion.’

Discussing the recent coronavirus pandemic and her 50th, the mother-of-two said the time had been full of reflection as well as thinking about the future.

Melanie also chatted about life with her two sons Roman, 18, and Valentino, 16, whom she shares with ex-husband Daniel Caltagirone, in her tell-all interview.

She explained how her youngest son has nephrotic syndrome, which is a kidney disease. Melanie said she’s had to be ‘very careful to keep him protected’. 

The TV star added Valentino is Autistic, so it hasn’t always been easy to explain what is happening with coronavirus to him. 

Melanie, who has been homeschooling Valentino during the pandemic, added her patience has been tested at times.

She also revealed she ‘wasn’t particularly a maternal type’ in her 20s but that ‘absolutely kicked in proper the day Roman was born’.   

And as she goes into her 50s Melanie revealed she is even considering relocating somewhere with a nicer climate for some of the year.   

It comes after Melanie shared a snap of herself looking stunning at the exclusive body-contouring salon in London’s Belgravia with her 256K followers. 

Wearing a pretty yellow tea-dress, the brunette beauty showcased her enviably toned legs, crediting the treatment with her fantastic results.

Melanie write:  ‘Hiya ladies, hope all well. I’ve been having a course of Velashape bodycontouring treatments on my legs at @TempusBelgravia and the results are bloody fantastic. 

‘Everyone has cellulite no matter what your diet is like, what your exercise habits are or your age. I am loving it.’

Clean-living Melanie recently celebrated three years of sobriety and marked the anniversary by posting a spirited message to her Instagram.

Sharing a fresh-faced selfie with her 256,000 followers, she wrote: ‘Yo yo yo good morning lovelies hope you are all well. 

‘I gave up alcohol completely 3 years ago today whoop whoop and today also marks the 2 year anniversary of my life changing holiday to India with @adamskionline (how amazing was that trip babes?). 

‘Anyway blah di blah I’m doing a little dance and you can’t stop me! have a good and positive day y’all. ps and for those asking, no I don’t miss it because it’s toxic bulls**t!’
