Julia Roberts stuns in a tiered tulle black and white gown to honor the Met Gala

Julia Roberts stuns in a tulle gown to honor the Met Gala that was postponed due to COVID-19: ‘Here’s me…not going to the Met Ball tonight’

The first Monday in May has become synonymous with the Met Gala, and celebrities donning gorgeous outfits and heading up the red covered stairs outside of the Metropolitan Museum of Art.

To honor the annual charity event, which was cancelled as the country continues to grapple with the coronavirus pandemic, Julia Roberts shared a glamorous throwback photo.

Posing near a window facing a New York City street, the 52-year-old modeled a beautiful strapless gown saying, ‘Here’s me…not going to the Met Ball tonight.’

Missing the Met: To honor the postponed Met Gala, Julia Roberts shared a glamorous photo to Instagram on Monday. Posing near a window facing a New York City street, the 52-year-old modeled a beautiful strapless gown saying ‘Here’s me…not going to the Met Ball tonight’

Julia seemed to hold a small glass in her right hand, while resting her elbow on the window frame.

The short train of her tiered tulle black and white gown, hung over a tub filled to the top with bubbles.

Her strawberry blonde hair effortlessly fell over half her face, in a sleek, straight style.

She was perfectly back lit by the open window the a tall red brick building on the other side of the street.

Her bathroom seemed minimalistic and chic with grey and white brick tiles lining the walls and silver fixtures.

While it is not clear when the photo was taken, as Julia never wore that gown to a Met Ball and as she’s been isolating in California, she seemed to be missing some of the glamour associated with the night.

Despite missing the Met Gala she added ‘#stayhome #yesyoustillhavetostayhome,’ to her caption, as much of the country has grown restless while being isolated at home.

Julia has been in quarantine with her second husband Danny Moder and their three children – twins Hazel and Phinnaeus, 15; as well as son Henry, 12.

Roberts and the 51-year-old Emmy-nominated cinematographer – whom she met on the 2000 set of The Mexican – will celebrate their 18th wedding anniversary on the Fourth of July.

Last month, the Pretty Woman alum posted that ‘quarantine is much easier’ watching cheery feel-good films that ‘still get me’ like 13 Going on 30 starring Jennifer Garner and Mark Ruffalo as reunited childhood pals.

It was just two days after Ruffalo rang in the 16th anniversary of Gary Winick’s time-hopping rom-com, which amassed $96M at the global box office despite a middling 65% Rotten Tomatoes rating.

Julia will next appear on the 24-hour global livestream event The Call to Unite – starting this Friday at 8pm EST – alongside Jennifer Garner, Oprah Winfrey, Rob Lowe, Alanis Morissette, Common, Eva Longoria, and more.

‘Today, billions of people around the world are isolated and anxious because of the COVID-19 pandemic – unable to gather with loved ones, go to work, or even mourn those they’ve lost,’ the press release read.

‘Still, in this moment of isolation, millions are rising to the occasion by showing each other love and support in countless ways. The Call to Unite is a celebration of those acts of humanity, and an invitation to the world to join in lifting one another in this moment of need. We need each other. Now more than ever.’
