KRISTIN Cavallari may be ready to leave Nashville behind as well as her husband of seven years, Jay Cutler, after the pair announced their shock separation this week.
The former Laguna Beach star, who filed for divorce from the ex-NFL quarterback on Sunday citing “inappropriate marital misconduct,” has allegedly “grown tired” of Tennessee life and is keen to relocate back to LA after they sell their $5million mansion, The Sun can exclusively reveal.
A source told The Sun: “Kristin has really tried to make the most of it in Nashville and built a successful business, but it’s just not her scene at all.
“After Laguna Beach and The Hills she wanted to go away and reinvent herself, focus on being a wife and mom, but now she’s ready for something more fast-paced again.
“Jay loves Nashville and it’s something they’ve often clashed over, it will undoubtedly cause real problems when it comes to custody arrangements if she does decide to take the kids with her.”
The couple, who married in 2013 after three years together, share three children – Camden, 7, Jaxon, 5, and daughter Saylor, 4 – are reportedly already at war after Kristin filed for primary physical custody in papers lodged with a Tennessee court.
Affair allegations between Jay and Kristin’s former BFF Kelly Henderson also led to the demise of the ladies’ friendship, but sources say it was not the catalyst for the pair’s decision to quit their marriage.
Kristin has also publicly stated she did not believe the rumors.
The informant added: “Kristin and Jay vacationed in Italy together in November with friends and everything seemed fine, but they’ve had a lot of issues this year and haven’t been able to move past them.”
The couple first relocated from LA to the suburbs of Chicago after Jay took up a spot playing for the Chicago Bears, returning to the place the reality TV favorite had spent her formative years.
“When I first met Jay, at the time I was living in Los Angeles and the paparazzi had gotten to me,” Kristin previously told ABC News. “I was really wanting out of LA and that whole lifestyle.”
The family then headed to Tennessee for Jay’s job and Kristin landed a new reality show on E!, Very Cavallari, in 2018, documenting the opening of her flagship shop for her jewelry line, Uncommon James, after which she launched her clothing line, Little James.
Kristin also has a popular store in Chicago and could be looking to open another in Los Angeles after the success of her pop-up, as she continues to build on her lifestyle brand.
The insider also revealed Kristin had planned a blowout girls trip to Mexico just before the pandemic hit, which has had to be postponed, but she still wants to get away.
“Things have been up and down for a while and she really wanted to take a break and unwind,” the informant said. “She was in The Bahamas with Jay for weeks before their split, but it hardly felt like a vacation.”
Jay listed the date of their split as April 21, but Kristin claims it was April 7, the day they returned to Nashville after their long trip with the children.
A second source told The Sun: “Jay loves his kids, they’re his primary motivation. His fear is she will run off with them to LA and he will never see them except on holidays.
“He filed as late as possible and after the couple had spent five weeks together with the kids, knowing that would help him in his bid for joint custody.”
The couple have been trying to sell their seven-bedroom, ten-bathroom luxury mansion for years.
They originally bought the home in 2012 for $5.3 million and tried to sell for it $7.9 million in 2018, later being forced to slash the asking price. It’s now listed at $4.95 million.
Reality star Kristin, 33, announced her divorce news on Sunday by posting a photograph of her and Jay on Instagram walking away from the camera with their arms around each other.
An emotional caption read: “With great sadness, after 10 years together we have come to a loving conclusion to get a divorce.
“We have nothing but love and respect for one another and are deeply grateful for the years shared, memories made, and the children we are so proud of.
“This is just the situation of two people growing apart. We ask everyone to respect our privacy as we navigate this difficult time within our family.”
Jay, 36, shared the same statement to fans on his social media, choosing a black-and-white snap of the couple during happier times.
The Sun has reached out to Kristin’s rep for comment.
