Walker interrupted and wanted to move on to talk about deaths in care homes after it was announced all figures of coronavirus deaths in that sector would be published today.
He said: “What we are hearing is a third of all deaths now in care homes right across the UK are from COVID.
“We have heard repeatedly on this programme over quite a few days from care home workers pleading for tests.
“So, do you think that the fact this hasn’t been available before has cost lives?” The presenter continued.
Eustice continued: “Look, I don’t think it is, because we have been working with the care sector and they have been very clear that there are protocols in place.
“But because those staff are looking after very vulnerable and elderly patients, if they are showing any signs or symptoms at all they must stay at home to prevent spreading this virus.”
