Chris Pratt and Katherine Schwarzenegger ‘wanted to enjoy the pregnancy news in private’ for as long as possible, a source has said.

The Guardians of the Galaxy star and the eldest daughter of Arnold Schwarzenegger tied the knot last year and are expecting a new addition to the family, according to reports from PEOPLE.

The baby will be 30-year-old Katherine’s first child, and will be a younger sibling to Chris’ seven-year-old son Jack, from his relationship with ex-wife Anna Faris.

However, a source told the same US publication the two wanted to enjoy it ‘privately’ before the world knew.

‘Chris and Katherine are so happy,’ the insider said.

‘They wanted to enjoy this time privately for as long as possible, but now that Katherine is showing more, they’re excited to share the news with everyone.’

Chris, 40, and Katherine, who met at church, tied the knot in June last year in an intimate wedding ceremony held in Montecito, California.

He was previously married to actress Anna and the two were married between 2009 and 2018.

The pair were joined by family and friends, including Katherine’s famous dad Arnie, and Chris confirmed their nuptials on Instagram, telling fans he felt ‘blessed’ to marry her.

‘Yesterday was the best day of our lives! We became husband and wife in front of God, our families and those we love,’ he wrote.

‘It was intimate, moving and emotional. We feel so blessed to begin this new chapter of our lives… this morning we feel nothing but blessed.’

The two were seen keeping up with their fitness on a bike ride after news of the alleged pregnancy broke on 25 April.

Jurassic World actor Chris was almost incognito with a face mask wrapped tightly around his mouth and nose along with a pair of dark shades.

Katherine opted not to wear a mask but instead donned sunglasses and a cap. 

Earlier in the day, Katherine was seen walking their dog wearing a loose-fitting jumpsuit and a hoodie. She was joined by her mother Maria Shriver.
