BTS cancel entire Map Of The Soul World Tour amid COVID-19 pandemic

BTS have postponed their entire Map Of The Soul World Tour.

The K-pop megastars had already postponed their various shows, including North America and in their South Korea hometown.

But now management company, Big Hit Entertainment, and promoters, Live Nation, have confirmed that the entire tour is being rescheduled due to the 2019/20 coronavirus pandemic.

‘Unfortunately, due to the ongoing government advisories on mass gatherings, BTS Map Of The Soul Tour – Europe has been postponed,’ a statement from Live Nation read on Tuesday morning.

‘Our highest priority remains the safety of our artists and fans as well as the global community. We ask for your generous understanding that this decision has been made in consideration of the safety and health of everyone involved.

Big Hit Entertainment added that they were unsure of when exactly the shows would be rescheduled, due to the many artists also trying to rebook shows at this time.

‘Due to the nature of BTS concerts involving travel by thousands of international fans no matter where the performances are held, it is also difficult to resume the tour with the current strict restrictions on cross-border movement still in place,’ they began.

‘Moreover it is impossible at this time to predict when the first performance marking the start of the tour will be able to begin.’

They continued: ‘Therefore we have made the difficult decision to suspend the previously-announced tour schedule and develop a new schedule. Big Hit Entertainment will completely reschedule the tour and provide a new tour schedule to our fans as soon as it becomes clear when the tour can begin.’

BTS – which is comprised of V, Jungkook, Jimin, SUGA, Jin, RM and J-Hope – were due to bring the run to Europe over the summer as well as North America and Japan.

The Black Swan singers were scheduled to perform at the Los Angeles Rose Bowl over three nights on Saturday 2, Sunday 3, and Tuesday 5 of May.

The Rose Bowl fits over 90,000 people and the three shows were all marked as sold out.

According to Forbes, BTS raked in $57 million in 2019, putting them at 43 on the Forbes’ Celebrity 100 list.

The money primarily came from ticket sales and merchandise sold at their shows.
