Craig Revel-Horwood has announced his engagement to his boyfriend of two years Jonathan Myring.

The pair had been holidaying in Australia last month (remember holidays?) when Jonathan decided it was the perfect time to pop the question to his Strictly judge partner.

While living it up n a national park, horticulturist Jonathan, 35, dropped to one knee as the pair enjoyed a salt bath and champagne in Tasmania.

Speaking to OK!, Craig, 55, revealed he’d initially jokingly turned down the proposal: ‘I said, “Absolutely not!” [laughs]. And then I said, “Oh, alright then, I’ve changed my mind”.

‘I thought it was really sweet, actually, because Jonathan just said, “I want to spend the rest of my life with you.” It was absolutely perfect. I would much rather be in a bubble bath with champagne than climbing up a mountain to a waterfall anyway.’

He also told the publication: ‘There’s such comfort in knowing you have somebody that loves you and wants to spend the rest of their life with you.

‘I feel like I have someone who has my back and I’ve got theirs.’

Craig – who was previously married to Jane Horwood from 1990-1992 before coming out as gay – met in 2018 and moved in together nine months later.

The dancing star opened up about marrying Jonathan in December, teasing he may be the one to pop the question to his partner, saying: ‘I’d like my proposal to Jonathan to be funny. I might do it while we’re crushing grapes!’

The pair live together in a Hampshire vineyard, in case you’re wondering…

‘Then I want our wedding to be in the vineyard, under a canopy of dappled trees,’ he added to The Mirror, calling Jonathan his soul mate.

‘We’ll do it in our garden and keep it small and simple, nothing splashy. I’ll invite just people that I absolutely love – friends and family that I’ve known for 30 years.’

It comes less than a year after Craig admitted he was considering adopting a child after being inspired by Annie, but wanted to make sure his relationship with Jonathan was ‘solid enough’.
He told The Sun last year: ‘It is something we have talked about.

‘There are so many children out there just like in ‘Annie’, who are orphaned for whatever reason and they just need a loving family.

‘But I am waiting to see how our relationship develops and if it’s solid enough and a good base to bring children into it. It certainly needs a lot of planning.

‘You are under great scrutiny when you are adopting, more so than natural parents. There are a lot of interviews, screenings etc.’
