Carmit went on to say that being in a girl band did attract male attention and it was not always wanted.

‘Sure you’re going to get hit on or be in the studio and feel those energy vibes. It’s a choice of whether you number one, act on it. Number two, speak up and stand up to it or number three ignore it,’ she said.

The singer added that she supported the Me Too movement and encouraged women to speak up.

She added: 'I think now is a very crucial time and it's been so incredibly courageous of the high-powered women in the industry to have spoken out, but so necessary'

It comes after band member Ashley Roberts compared the Pussycat Dolls’ raunchy performances to those seen in Magic Mike as she called out double standards in the music industry.

The singer, 38, joined her bandmates as they turned up the heat in newly released images for a performance of their latest single React.

Speaking at the shoot, Ashley said men are free to dance provocatively in stage shows like Magic Mike but when The Pussycat Dolls put on their performances, internet trolls refer to them as ‘prostitutes’.

She said: ‘Someone told me that within the stage of me as a woman that I shouldn’t be sexy and I’m like ‘f**k off’. Magic Mike comes on and everyone loves it but women do it and we’re called prostitutes.

‘I want to embrace the fact that I’m a woman getting to go back out with my girls as that sometimes doesn’t happen.

‘We have nothing to prove we just want to go out there and have some fun again. I want to be sexy when I’m like 90!’
