Bella Thorne has long been open about losing her father Delancey Reinaldo “Rey” Thorne at a young age.

The former Disney star’s dad died in a motorcycle accident back in 2007, when she was only nine years old.

She posted a tribute with some throwback photos Thursday to Instagram, marking 13 years since her dad died.

The 22-year-old wrote: ‘Today you died And tomorrow we are left with just the remnants of you..I hope ur floating in the sky somewhere or as that beautiful bird u always wanted to be…

‘I want to say time heals but it’s been years and I still feel very broken without you, please stop by my dreams tonight so I can say hello.’

One sweet photo showed Rey, who died when he was just 44, holding baby Bella and kissing her on the cheek.

Bella also took to her Instagram story with an arrangement of roses that boyfriend Benjamin Mascolo, 26, sent her and sister Dani Thorne, 27.

He wrote: ‘To the most beautiful and amazing daughters your father would have ever dreamed of. I’m 100% sure he is so proud of both of you and the strong women you’ve become.’

It follows a teenage outcast who finds her wildest wishes coming true after writing in a journal that belonged to her late father.

She told Us Weekly: ‘When my father first died, the day I heard it, I couldn’t cry. It was very odd. You’re still in a state of shock, I think. That’s kind of where Autumn is. 

‘There are times where I’m completely normal even to this day and I’m just like, “Oh, that light post looks nice. I wonder if Daddy would like that light post.” And then, all of a sudden, I realize I’m crying…’
