Married At First Sight contestants want to attend Logies and are pandering to producers

‘They don’t want a repeat of last year’: Nine to be selective of which Married At First Sight stars ‘sucking up’ to producers for Logie invites will attend – after brides wreaked havoc with ‘elbowgate’ and ‘gatecrashing’ in 2019

The Logie Awards are recognised as Australian TV’s night of nights, with the nation’s biggest-and-most-popular faces of the silver screen in attendance.

And it’s been claimed the 2020 cast of Channel Nine’s Married At First Sight are doing everything they can to receive a coveted invite.

‘They’re sucking up to the producers big time,’ an inside source told New Weekly on Monday ahead of the June ceremony.

The anonymous insider claimed returning ‘intruder bride’ Elizabeth Sobinoff had already been guaranteed an invite, which has left her co-stars fighting for their own.

Last year, only eight of the 24 stars were given access to the red-carpet event and televised award show, despite MAFS being nominated for two awards on the night.

If Elizabeth is indeed attending, it’s safe to assume that her MAFS ‘husband’ Seb Guihaus will appear by her side on the evening.

‘The producers definitely don’t want a repeat of what happened last year. They’ll be keeping a much closer eye on things to make sure this year’s cast are kept in line,’ the source claimed.

Daily Mail Australia has contacted Channel Nine for comment.

Elizabeth attended last year’s Logies along with couples Cameron Merchant and Jules Robinson and Martha Kalifatidis and Michael Brunelli. Nic Jovanovic, Heidi Latcham and Mike Gunner also attended.

The event was also overshadowed by one of the most bizarre celebrity feuds of the year between MAFS star Martha and Sunrise host David ‘Kochie’ Koch.

In a scandal that became known as ‘elbowgate’, Kochie accused Martha of elbowing him on the Logies red carpet on an episode of Sunrise.

‘I’ve still got bruises in the ribs from the Married At First Sight woman who elbowed me on the way through on the red carpet!’ he said.

Sunrise co-host Samantha Armytage then took a swipe: ‘Someone is saying Martha in my ear? I could not pick her out of a lineup, but my God she got you in the ribs.’

‘Do not get between Martha and the camera,’ sports reporter Mark Beretta joked, prompting Sam to say: ‘Especially when you’ve only got 15 minutes of fame!’

Despite repeated accusations from the Sunrise desk, Martha vehemently denied the allegation and accused them of bullying her.
