The Bachelorette’s suitors are revealed, including Tyler Cameron’s roommate Matt James

The new Bachelorette Clare Crawley has already made five different appearances on shows throughout the popular dating franchise.

The 32 men who will vie for Clare’s heart were revealed Wednesday on the ABC show’s official Facebook page.

Among the newcomers is one familiar face: Matt James, who was the roommate of season 15 runner-up and fan favorite Tyler Cameron.

Prior to Clare’s reveal as the new Bachelorette star, Us Weekly reported that the show was hastily seeking older contestants in favor of men in their early 20s, which led some to assume she was the logical choice.

The men assembled definitely skew older than in previous seasons, with multiple suitors in their 30s and one in his early 40s.

But fans of the show will probably be familiar with Matt James, who was Tyler Cameron’s roommate and good friend.

During an appearance on Nick Viall’s podcast in August, he revealed how determined he was to get his friend on the show.

‘Everyone needs to apply Matt James for The Bachelorette. Maybe just skip that and go to The Bachelore,” Tyler said on The Viall Files.

‘My goal is to get him on, he needs some convincing so everybody get after him, get him convinced to go and he’ll be a great guy for the show.’

The two hunks bonded after Matt moved to New York City to pursue modeling, just like his roommate.

He and Tyler co-founded ABC Food Tours (no connection to the network), a service that takes groups of children from underserved communities on tours to worthwhile restaurants in lower Manhattan to learn more about them while getting a tasty meal.

They also encourage an active lifestyle by including a fitness component in each tour.

Physical activity is also important for the former Wake Forest University football player, who stays active and has run multiple marathons.

Among this season’s older suitors, Bret E. from Provo, Utah, is the most senior at 42, four years older than Clare.

Other older than usual contestants include 38-year-old Mike T. from Calgary, Canada.

Others hovered in their early 30s, including Dale M., 31, from New York City.

Though there were a few older suitors, The Bachelorette doesn’t seem to have gone all-in on more age appropriate men.

Most of the men are in their early to mid-20s, including Florida-based JP C., 25, and Ed W., 26, who hails from Miami.

That might be a plus for Clare, though.

‘I have been known to date younger guys, so that’s not a problem for me,’ she said during her introduction on Good Morning America earlier this month.

‘The thing is I’m wondering if they’re ready for me, for my age. I feel like that would be more of an issue, than me with them, because I feel so much younger at heart than my actual age,’ she said.

‘I’m proud of my age, but I just feel younger and I feel like that to me is what’s important.’

The Sacramento-based hairstylist from Juan Pablo Galavis’ 2014 season seemed more concerned about how the men would react to her age.

‘A lot of people put it out there as this negative thing, but for me, it just is more years under my belt, more learning and knowing what I want, what I don’t want and what I won’t settle for,’ she said.
