Defying gravity: Record-breaking athlete leaps more than 5ft off the ground in astonishing box jump
- Christopher Spell, 24, is training to beat his own world record of box jumping
- He is able to jump from a standing in a single leap up to a platform 5’4 high
- Spell managed to beat the Guinness World Record for that jump in July 2019
- The personal trainer said he now hopes to beat his own world record in the future
This stunning feat of strength and power shows an athlete performing a seemingly inhuman vertical jump – of over five feet.
Christopher Spell, 24, currently holds the Guinness World record for highest box jump, which stands at 64.155 inches – or 5’4″.
He filmed this latest video at 24 hour Fitness in Yorktown, NY, USA, as he prepares to attempt to break his own record.
Christopher Spell prepares for his jump standing beside a pile of weights which are around 5ft in height
The New York personal trainer crouches down before launching himself into the air
Moments later his body is passing the top of the pile of weights as he flies through the air
The footage shows a stack of weight plates piled high and in a single leap Mr Spell manages to clear the whole stack and gracefully lands ontop.
Mr Spell, CEO of ‘Against Odds Athletics’, based in Cortlandt Manor, NY, said: ‘I created this video to continue to build my brand and my social media following on TikTok, YouTube and Instagram.
‘The video is of me box jumping onto a stack of plates, practicing to break the Guinness World Record again, like I did July 2019.
‘A lot of patience, dedication and perseverance allows me to perform such a spectacular jump. My experience as a NASM certified personal trainer helps as well.
‘I think the video is entertaining, but I have many more awesome video ideas that I have not attempted yet.’

The athlete then returns to a crouch so he can get his legs over the top and land on his feet
With inches to spare he lands on top of the weights and tries to keep his balance
His camera cannot keep his head in shot as he stands straight on top of the weights showing remarkable balance
