Boss of US private equity firm hoping to snap up Morrisons is hired to head up UK Government Investments

The partner in a major private equity firm has been appointed by the Treasury to head UK Government Investments

The partner in a major private equity firm has been appointed by the Treasury to head UK Government Investments (UKGI).

Vindi Banga is a senior member of Clayton Dubilier & Rice (CD&R), one of the US predators hoping to snap up Morrisons.

From September he will become the chairman of UKGI, the body which advises the Government on corporate governance and corporate finance issues such as bank bailouts and the sale of the Treasury’s stake in Natwest.

The appointment is likely to rile business leaders who claim the Government is already too friendly with private equity.
