Police have released an image as they hunt for a rail passenger seen hitting a child four times in the head.

The man is said to have told a train conductor who confronted him: ‘I can do what I want, he’s my son.’

The alleged assault happened on the Manchester Airport to Blackpool North service just after 7.30pm on July 21.

British Transport Police have now released an image of a man they would like to speak to in connection with the incident.  

A BTP spokesperson said the man pictured may have ‘vital information’ that could help in their investigation.
