ABC comedy series Gruen will return in September – with plans already in place for another season next year

Popular comedy show Gruen will be returning to the ABC in September.

The panel series, which offers a lighthearted take on the advertising industry, had previously been the subject of rumours it was facing the axe.

But not only is it returning in the coming months, but there are already plans in place for another season next year, reports TV Blackbox.

Back for more: Popular comedy show Gruen will be returning to the ABC in September

Host Wil Anderson was recently announced as the presenter of a new show, Question Everything, which prompted fans to ask if Gruen had been cancelled.

But the ABC confirmed Gruen would be returning to screens in September, with plans to film another season after that too.

‘It’s the year everything stopped except advertising. So we can’t stop either. Gruen returns, unmasking marketing secrets faster than a conspiracy theorist in Bunnings,’ reads the ABC’s iview synopsis for the series.

In addition to Wil, 47, fellow panelists Todd Sampson and Russel Howcroft will also be returning for the upcoming series.

It will mark the hit show’s 13th season, with Gruen proving to be one of the ABC’s highest-rating and longest-lasting programs.

But there’s no doubt they’ll have their hands full moving forward, with Wil and production team CJZ the powerhouses behind both Gruen and Question Everything.

Joining Wil on Question Anything will be The Project’s Jan Fran, with the new show set to premiere as an eight-part series starting from Wednesday, August 18.

According to a report by Mumbrella on Wednesday, the new show will take on a quiz-panel format, and will feature a rotating panel of comedians.

The series ‘will take a look at the week in fake news, false claims, scams, frauds and lies, dissecting the news and sorting out the fact from the fiction each week’.
