A lucky teenager is $20,000 richer after finding a puffy Doritos chip and listing the ‘ultra rare’ find on eBay.

Gold Coast student Rylee Stuart, 13, drew national headlines after a clip showing the air-filled flavoured cheese supreme chip went viral on TikTok.

The savvy teenager quickly listed the unusual chip on eBay and was inundated with bids of up to $100,000 before the auction was taken down from the site.

While Ms Stuart likely won’t receive a cent from eBay, Doritos decided to reward the girl $20,000 for her ‘bold entrepreneurship’ and ‘ingenuity’.

Her ebay listing drew bids of up to 20,000 in just a few days, eventually escalating to $100,000 before she took the auction down

Doritos Chief Marketing Officer Vandita Pandey said the company had loved following her story of the puffy one of a kind corn chip.

‘We’ve been so impressed with Rylee’s boldness and entrepreneurial spirit, so we wanted to make sure the Stuart family were rewarded for their creativity and love for Doritos.’ Pandey said.

The teen had listed the rare find on eBay and later clarified in a follow up post to her 11,600 followers that the auction had been an experiment to see if the chip could draw any bids.

‘I was about to eat it but I thought I better save it for later,’ Rylee told 9News.

Then after checking the auction she said she was shocked.

‘I saw $10,000 and I like screamed,’ she said.

Though who is entitled to the windfall is a matter for debate.

‘Dad is saying that since he bought the packet, it’s his chip, but I ate the packet and found it, so I believe it is mine,’ Rylee said.

Wacky food items selling for thousands on the eBay are a pretty common phenomenon.

A U.S. teen successfully sold single Doritos in a jar as ‘conversation pieces’ for $20 a pop earlier this year.

A chicken nugget shaped like a popular character from the video game ‘Among Us’ sold for $136,000 recently.
