Woolworths and the Royal Australian Mint launch six collectable $2 coins in honour of the Tokyo Olympics


Woolworths and the Royal Australian Mint have released an exciting new range of collectable $2 coins in the lead up to the Tokyo Olympics.

Six exclusive coins will be up for grabs, with one unique $2 coin design to be released each week.

The limited edition coin will be available from supermarket registers from July 14. 

An Olympic coin collecting album will also be available for purchase at a cost of $15 which will include five collectable $2 coin designs.

A collector’s album featuring a green and gold Paralympic coin will be available for $3 from August 18.

In total, 12million collectable $2 coins will be available at Woolworths supermarket registers.

‘We have a long history of celebrating Australia’s rich sporting history with our customers, and these coins are another great way for them to show their support for our Australian Olympic and Paralympic teams as they go for gold in Tokyo.’

‘The Royal Australian Mint has an important role in telling the stories of Australia through iconic sporting events such as the Tokyo Games,’ Royal Australian Mint CEO Mr Leigh Gordon added.

‘We have produced this collection with the hope that all Australians come together to back our athletes and teams on their journey to Tokyo and beyond.’  

The first Blue ‘Resilience’ coin will be released on July 14, followed by the black ‘Passion’ coin on July 24, the red ‘courage’ coin on July 28th, yellow ‘striving’ coin on August 4, green ‘dedication’ coin on August 11 and the Paralympic coin on August 18.
