First Nations singer and X Factor winner Isaiah Firebrace heads a petition to establish Indigenous History classes in Australian schools

Isaiah Firebrace plans to bring his popular petition to launch Aboriginal History classes in schools to Parliament.

The 21-year-old First Nations singer hopes to lobby the Federal Government to implement the classes in primary and secondary schools across the country.

His successful petition, which was launched on Change.org eight months ago, gained serious momentum during NAIDOC week.

Change: First Nations singer and X Factor winner Isaiah Firebrace, 21, headed a petition to establish Indigenous History classes in Australian schools

After initially setting a goal of 75,000 signatures, the X-Factor winner’s petition just shot up to 270,000 this week.

Speaking to the Herald Sun, Firebrace says he was inspired to become more involved in issues affecting Aboriginal communities after the Black Lives Matters protests last year.

The pop star is currently on his Spirit and Beyond tour, travelling through regional communities to inspire indigenous and non-indigenous children.

‘I speak to so many kids in my regional workshops and all we want as a community is to be heard and for more Australians to understand and respect our beautiful culture,’ he said.

The 21-year-old Eurovision representative next wants to take the petition straight to Federal Education Minister, Alan Tudge.

‘I would love to take this petition to Canberra and present it to the Minister and I’d love to sit down and tell him what I see and hear while I’m on the road,’ the singer continued.

‘There is way too much divisiveness around the issue, we need to unite and work together and put politics aside,’ he added.
