The Big Red Car won’t be travelling near or far after The Wiggles cancelled their NSW and QLD tour following the news that the Sydney lockdown would be extended.

The popular children’s group made the announcement on their Instagram on Wednesday, explaining that the dates for the tour will now be moved from July to September.

‘G’day NSW and QLD, sadly due to today’s announcement, we will be postponing the rest of our ‘The Great Wiggly Road Trip Tour!’ shows,’ the post read.

Fans were then requested to contact their vendor if they wish to receive a refund instead.

‘We appreciate your understanding with these fast-moving changes; we have a duty of care to do the right thing to protect the health and safety of our cast, crew and all of you,’ the group said.

27 new cases of coronavirus were recorded in the state on Wednesday.

Many of the new cases were recorded in Canterbury-Bankstown, Liverpool and Fairfield as the so-called Bondi cluster spread from the city’s east to the west.

Fourteen of the cases had been infectious in the community, prompting Premier Gladys Berejiklian to extend the lockdown until Friday, July 16.
