The NYPD released chilling video Sunday of a burglar breaking in and skulking around an Upper West Side brownstone, all while the owner slept in another room.

The homeowner, an unidentified 45-year-old woman, was at home in the tony area of Central Park West and West 89th Street early on June 24 when the burglar managed to get in by fiddling with the private residence’s front-door lock, according to the department.

The home’s surveillance system captured the man, who has not been identified or arrested, entering the residence, turning on the lights, and then opening doors and peering into rooms.

Police said the woman was in another room at the time, and didn’t come into contact with the man.

Police said he made off with a $2,400 Macbook Pro laptop computer then fled before the homeowner awoke.

She noticed the laptop was missing from her home office later that morning, prompting her to review the residence’s surveillance footage, which is when she realized her home had been burgled

The woman reported the crime to the NYPD before handing over the creepy footage in an effort to identify the man.

In a CompStat report for the week of June 21 to 27, the NYPD reported 181 burglaries citywide, 744 cases of grand larceny, and 279 cases of robbery.

The NYPD also reports that it often sees an increase in criminal activity during the summer, with shootings and gun violence surging by over 68 percent this year so far.
