England’s players jumped back aboard their inflatable unicorns in a hilarious repeat of the fun and games from the 2018 World Cup, having returned to training after beating Ukraine 4-0 yesterday.

The zany floats made a welcome return for the Three Lions as they looked to wind down following their emphatic quarter-final victory – and the likes of Mason Mount and Bukayo Saka were seen in high spirits.

Arsenal wonderkid Saka left supporters in stitches, with one particular shot showing him leaping into the water on top of the inflatable, while team-mate Mount took the time out to smile for the camera.

The colourful unicorns made their first appearance three years ago in Russia, and were brought out to comical effect when Gareth Southgate’s stars looked to recuperate in the pool.

In scenes that brought a smile to the face of every fan, the squad raced across the width of the water and splashed about, all the while recovering from their exertions at the tournament.

That run saw England reach the semi-finals, and they will look to go one better this year by beating Denmark and reaching Wembley for the chance of lifting their first trophy since 1966.

And today, fresh from their heroics in Rome, the current crop of players showed off their playful side through the light-hearted activities – which also included volleyball and a stretching session in the gym.

Midfielder Declan Rice, who has started all five games so far this summer, jumped into the pool and on top of an inflatable shark, which he even appeared to tackle and thrash about to the amusement of Mount.

Jack Grealish was one of those who took part in the round of volleyball, although he opted to use his head rather than his hands, with Marcus Rashford – who came on as a substitute against Ukraine – also joining in.
