Nick Kyrgios will play no further part at Wimbledon this year, after conceding his third-round match against Felix Auger-Aliassime due to an abdominal injury.

The Australian star began to struggle while he was in a commanding 5-2 lead in the opening set, before he called a time-out to be treated and laid on the court while the physio massaged where the pain was troubling him.

Kyrgios got back up and bagged the first set, but it all crumbled from there. Auger-Aliassime steamed to a 6-1 win in the second, as his opponent winced with every serve.

The 26-year-old looked defeated as he took a seat, telling the physio ‘I literally can’t roll my arm over anymore’ before striding over to Auger-Aliassime to concede.

‘I haven’t played this level of tennis in a long time and obviously playing someone as good as Felix, I need my main weapon – to be firing on all cylinders and I just felt my ab,’ he then told the crowd as he spoke out about his withdrawal.

‘I definitely did something to it towards the end of the first set and that’s just the way it goes.

‘Playing out here and having this support is kind of making me have a second wind. I think I’m gonna come back and play for a bit longer.

‘I did all I could to prepare to get here. I’ve beat a heck of a player in the first round and I played a great second round.

‘Just to get out here again and play two sets – I tried to play as long as I could and I’m sorry I couldn’t give you more today.’

World No 25 Ugo Humbert and Italian Gianluca Mager were despatched by Kyrgios en-route to the third round, only leading to his tournament coming to a sad end after two years away from the All England Club.
