Jake Edwards talks about breakdown and how Married At First Sight was one of his worst decisions

Jake Edwards reveals he had a ‘complete breakdown’ and lost 9 kilos from ‘stress and anxiety’ after appearing on Married At First Sight

Jake Edwards has unpacked the shocking details behind his breakdown following his appearance on Married At First Sight.

In a Herald Sun article, the former footballer turned reality star says he never would’ve signed up to the show if he knew about the backlash he was to be dealt.

Jake, 33, spent a month with monks on a farm in Victoria to heal after the series wrapped.

He was on the 2021 season of MAFS, and was infamously matched with Beth Zemek.  Eventually, the pair bitterly split before the reunion.

‘My experience, yes, was very challenging because of the person I was matched up with, in fact it was emotionally abusive,’ said the former footballer.

At the same time, Edwards’ relationship with fitness model Sophie Guidolin abruptly ended while he was copping hate and abuse for his appearance on the reality show.

This culminated in Jake reaching his tipping point.

Following his retreat, Edwards’ next plan is to move to the Sunshine Coast in Queensland in the next two months.

‘Jake Edwards four months ago would not recognise who he is today,’ the footballer declares. ‘I want to leave this old person behind and start again.’

Jake says that while he regrets his time on MAFS ‘because of the pain in the last three months,’ he admits that he might look back at it differently in the future.
