An incredible video shows the moment thousands of bright green budgerigars soar across the sky.

The footage was captured by The Kangaroo Sanctuary in Alice Springs and uploaded to Instagram on Sunday.

A flock of the native Australian birds could be seen flying in formation around a brown field at the regional property, while chirping loudly.

‘Beautiful wild bright green budgies!,’ the caption read.

‘I was very lucky to be able to sit quietly on the ground in our sanctuary while flocks of thousands of budgies landed at my feet and flew all around. 

‘They are loving the grass seeds.’
