Shocked motorists were forced to slam on their brakes after a pair of frisky kangaroos started to get intimate in the middle of the road.

An image of the brazen animals mating on a suburban road recently resurfaced on the Australian Native Wildlife Facebook page on Sunday.

The kangaroos got intimate in front of an innocent motorist in a four-wheel-drive, on a residential street in Macleod, north-east Melbourne.

‘Meanwhile in Australia you must do as the sign says and give way’, the author of the post captioned the hilarious photo.

The image was quickly swarmed by entertained Facebook users who took to the comments to share their thoughts on the rowdy roos.

‘Guys, get a room’, one woman commented.

‘Surely not in the middle of the road, a little privacy please?’, another user wrote.

Oh well, when the mood takes you I guess’, a third said.

One user pointed to the Give Way sign in the background of the photo.

‘That Give Way sign should read DO NOT ENTER’, one user shared.

A ‘hump’ sign would have been funnier’, another agreed.

Kangaroos are often sighted on the streets of Macleod as they emerge from the nearby Gresswell Forest Wildlife Reserve.
