Kristin Cavallari throws herself entirely into motherhood during the weeks she has with her children

Kristin Cavallari has shed light on sharing her children with her ex-husband Jay Cutler post-divorce.

Speaking with Grazia magazine, the Laguna Beach alum revealed she fully devotes herself to motherhood on the weeks she is scheduled to be with her three children.

‘I only have my kids half the time now,’ the 34-year-old told the magazine. ‘I have them every other week. I have just decided that the week I have my kids, I’m mom. I’m not doing anything else.’

When the children are with Jay, however, Kristin uses that time to catch up with friends or work.

‘I have a week off where I can go to dinner every night with my friends if I want to. I can work really hard if I need to. I can stay at the office later if I need to. But when I have my kids, I’m not doing anything else.’

Kristin settled on a custody agreement with Jay shortly after filing for divorce from him in 2020 after seven years of marriage.

The couple, who share sons Camden, eight, Jaxon, seven, and daughter Saylor, five, were named as ‘joint primary residential parents’ in a custody agreement obtained by People last year.

This means the children will split time between their parents equally ‘on a week-on, week-off basis.’

On top of her responsibilities as a parent, Kristin is also running her own jewelry company, Uncommon James, which she founded in 2017.

That company recently made headlines after it was reported that Jay wanted half of the brand as it was founded during their seven-year marriage, however Kristin has been ‘pushing back hard’ in his quest for ownership, according to TMZ.

For Kristin, financial freedom has been a lifelong goal of hers she believes was instilled in her following the divorce of her parents.

‘I’ve always had this work ethic in me and I’ve always wanted to make my own money,’ she told the site.

‘It has always been really important to me because I never wanted to rely on anybody. To me, money was freedom. It was independence.’

‘I probably got that from my parents being divorced,’ she said. ‘My stepmom was 20 years younger than my dad. I didn’t like that situation… I remember my dad saying, “You know, you don’t have to have a job.” And I was like, “No, I know. But I want one.” I’ve always wanted to make my own money and be my own person.’

Although Kristin and Jay briefly split in 2011, they eventually reconciled and married in 2013 following the birth of their first child.

They invited fans into their marriage on the E! reality series focusing on her Uncommon James business Very Cavallari, which came to an end after three seasons on air.

Since filing for divorce from Jay last year, Kristin has since been linked to comedian Jeff Dye and Southern Charm cast member Austen Kroll.
