Reckless teens who perilously clung onto the back of a city bus in rush hour traffic have been fined $195 each and banned from public transport for the dangerous stunt.

The foolhardy pair were charged after worried locals in Adelaide spotted them bus-surfing near a busy interchange at 4.45pm on May 20.

Pictures on social media of the pair sparked a police investigation by officers from the Public Transport Safety Section.

They later tracked down a 17-year-old from Greenwith, Adelaide, and his 16-year-old mate from nearby Salisbury Heights.

They have now been banned from all forms of public transport in Adelaide for three months on top of each of their $195 fines for ‘riding in a non-carriage area of a vehicle’.

A police spokesman told Daily Mail Australia: ‘It’s not a common crime and hopefully this pair have learnt their lesson.’
